Summit Pacific’s wellness fair set for Saturday - The Daily World

Hosting anything from smoothies to skin cancer screenings, Summit Pacific's annual Peak Health and Wellness Fair returns to Elma this Saturday, Sept. 16.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. that day, more than 30 health-related exhibitors will set up on all three floors and the parking lot of the hospital's Wellness Center at 610 E Main St. in Elma. Highlights include a children's bike rodeo, free bike helmets, free vision exams and blood pressure checks, and a bike that, when pedaled, powers a blender and makes smoothies, according to a press release from Summit Pacific.

The wellness center's 30-foot rock climbing wall will also be open. The wall is about one year old and was unveiled as part of last year's wellness fair.

In addition, board-certified dermatologist Dr. Hugh Nymeyer, who practices at Olympic Dermatology and Laser Clinic in Olympia, will be providing free skin cancer screenings at the wellness fair. The press release states screenings are open to the public but must be scheduled in advance with an appointment. Attendees can pre-register by calling 360-346-2297, and appointments will be available until all time slots are filled.

The wellness fair will be preceded by a 5K walk and run starting in the wellness center parking lot. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and the event begins at 9 a.m.

"All levels of runners and walkers are welcome to join the route from the Wellness Center parking lot to go on an easygoing trek through Elma," the press release states.
