Britain basked in a Bank Holiday weekend heatwave – and there's more to come this week.
Sun-seekers made their way to the nation's beaches and parks on the hottest day of the year on Saturday, with the hot weather continuing today.
Brighton beach was packed as people made the most of the long weekend. Others chose to stay on dry land, with London's Richmond Park a hotspot.
In Scotland, four-legged friends gathered at Thirlestane Castle in the Borders today for Dachshund Day, with races, agility and judging events.
Temperatures reached as high as 24.3C in Bramham, West Yorkshire, on Saturday, the Met Office confirmed. Sunday saw highs of 22C. High pressure is set to dominate Monday's weather once again, with plenty of sunny intervals between light cloud.
The cloud will burn off for many areas in the afternoon, leading to lengthy sunny intervals. The evening will be fine and bright once again for most.
Tuesday and Wednesday should be more fine days, with extended spells of sunshine and no rain expected.
Wednesday will be fine as high pressure stays in charge, with the best of the sunshine to be found in Scotland. One BMW driver was left regretting his trip to the seaside when his car was washed out to sea after he parked on the beach at low tide.
The vehicle, believed to be a E93 soft top, was filmed in the water off Trevaunance Beach, Cornwall, this morning.
St Agnes Coastguard Search & Rescue said: "Team tasked to the Trevaunance Beach car wash to make sure all occupants were out of the vehicle and safe."
They added: "You can't park there, sir!"
There was also good news for travellers looking for a half-term getaway overseas, as an IT glitch which caused airport delays was fixed.
Thousands of frustrated British Airways passengers were affected by the problem with the system, which was solved on Saturday.
Queues at Dover ferry port, where cross-channel passengers had also experienced long delays, were today running much more smoothly than they were on Friday.
