Sarah Palin On ‘Disheartening’ Jan. 6 Sentences: ‘Makes the Good Guy Think, What’s the Use in Being a Good Guy?’ - Mediaite

Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin criticized the sentences given to several participants in the Jan. 6, 2021 Capitol riots on Tuesday, and argued they were evidence of a two-tier justice system. "Governor, blown away by these sentences. 15, 17, and 18 years for nonviolent crimes," declared Newsmax host Eric Bolling , in reference to the lengthy prison sentences given to Jan. 6 defendants Zachary Rehl , Joe Biggs , and Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes . "What do you say to all these lefties?" Palin replied: It's so disheartening, the examples that you've given, Eric. It makes the populace lose a lot of faith in our government and that's an understatement. Unfortunately, what this leads to, when we recognize the examples that you just gave, the two-tier different justice systems that apply according to politics, you know it makes the good guy think what's the use in being a good guy. We're gonna be punished, you know, w...

Jeremy Corbyn confirms he will stand against Labour in Islington - BBC.com

Corbyn confirms he will stand against Labour Former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has confirmed he will stand against the party he led from 2015 to 2020. He will contest the Islington North seat, which he has held since 1983, as an independent candidate in the general election on 4 July. Speaking to his local Islington Tribune newspaper, he said he would be "a voice for equality, democracy and peace". Mr Corbyn was suspended from the Parliamentary Labour Party (PLP) in 2020 - when, in response to the Equality and Human Rights Commission report into the party's handling of antisemitism complaints, he suggested the scale of the problem had been "dramatically overstated" by opponents. Labour has informed Mr Corbyn he is no longer a party member. Standing against the party automatically triggers expulsion. The former leader had remained a Labour member, despite being suspended from the parliamentary party. Local Labour councillor Praful Nargund has been announced as t...

Even Without the January 6 Insurrection, the 2021 Presidential Transition Was Not Good. Are We Ready For 2025? - Washington Monthly

Image
As the 2024 campaign moves ahead to the general election contest, transition planning does as well. That's because, months before this November's election, Congress requires the White House to prepare to leave, even while President Joe Biden campaigns to remain. Extensive transition planning had not always been mandated by Congress, and many transitions have been marked by poor cooperation. But the well-prepared and widely praised handoff from George W. Bush to Barack Obama, in the midst of the 2008 global economic collapse, prompted Congress in 2016 and 2019 to strengthen the law that governs presidential transitions. Remarkably, after barely accepting any offers of help from the outgoing Obama administration in 2016, Trump's team abided by this law during the runup to the last election—cooperating with the Biden team to get ready should he lose by establishing transition councils and naming federal transition coordinators. Nevertheless, we now know these e...

AOC Has No Chance of Being President - The National Interest Online

Image
Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez or AOC is Congress's biggest celebrity. Despite being a junior member of the House, AOC has a fervent cultural following – and a fervent group of dissidents; AOC is uniquely polarizing. Still, AOC's celebrity has boosted her name into the presidential conversation – remarkable given her brief tenure and how little she has accomplished. In a culture where youth and celebrity rule, AOC is being discussed as a serious presidential candidate if Biden chooses not to run or to challenge him from the left. A shame, given that she is more of a social influencer than a politician. With uncertainty surrounding incumbent President Joe Biden's willingness – or ability – to run again in 2024, AOC is on the shortlist for replacements. Biden seems committed to 2024, but heck, this is politics, so anything is possible.  AOC for President in 2024 seems highly unlikely given Biden's stubbornness and AOC's inexperie...

Bangladesh springs up in discussions amid polls in India - Prothom Alo English

The Delhi chief minister also depicted an outlook of that future in India. He said, "This time, they (BJP government) put me in prison, imprisoned Manish Sisodia and five top leaders of our party. They are going to freeze our (bank) accounts, which they already did with the Congress. Hemant Soren was jailed, they split NCP into two, took away their symbol." It was the same with the Shiv Sena. Several ministers in the Trinamool government have been jailed, same with ministers in the Stalin government. The fight they are into is beyond anyone's imagination, Kejriwal said. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) embarked upon a vigorous movement demanding the resignation of Arvind Kejriwal following his arrest on the allegation of money laundering in an excise (liquor) case. However, he didn't abdicate. Rather he repeatedly vowed to hold his post. Adblock test (Why?)
